Several of snooker's stars names are still in the hat for round three of the UK Championship after and impressive second phase of the competition in York.
Ronnie O'Sullivan was pushed all the way by Irishman Ken Doherty, who rolled back the years in a tenacious display as the Rocket edged through 6-5.
One shock exit was that of four-time World Champion John Higgins, who was beaten in an 11-frame thriller by compatriot Alan McManus.
Judd Trump also needed the last frame to see off the challenge of Dominic Dale, as did Ding Junhui against Matthew Selt.
Kyren Wilson, Barry Hawkins, Mark Allen and Stuart Bingham all booked their place in the third round, as did Neil Robertson and reigning world champion Mark Williams.
