Steve McClaren says QPR simply need to 'dust themselves down' and get back on the horse after their 3-2 loss to Hull City, just their second defeat in ten Championship games.

The R’s trailed 2-0 early on and despite Pawel Wszolek halving the deficit and Luke Freeman scoring his second goal in a week, couldn't complete a comeback.

It was a first home defeat for Rangers since late September, but Loftus Road chief McClaren feels his side need don't have far to look for a sturdy defensive formula.

"That was our second defeat in 10 games. Over that 10-game spell we've been very good defensively and have kept clean sheets," said the former England manager.

"Now we're not keeping clean sheets and we need to get back to that. We dust ourselves down and go again."

QPR have now conceded nine goals in the past four matches and face festive fixtures with Leeds, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest who are all flying high at the top of the Championship.

"When you gamble - and we had to gamble - you can be on the wrong end of it," said McClaren.

"I still felt at half-time that we'd win, but we were always susceptible to that third goal. That's what happens when you throw caution to the wind, which we had to do. It didn't pay off against Hull.”
