Ronnie O’Sullivan was magnanimous in defeat as he was edged out of the Northern Ireland Open by Judd Trump.
Trump’s break of 79 in the 16th frame sealed a 9-7 win over the Rocket on the final day of action at Waterfront Hall, Belfast.
And five-time World Champion O’Sullivan acknowledged the Bristolian was the better player on the night and throughout the week.
“Judd deserved his win – he played the best snooker in the final and probably the best snooker all week,” said O’Sullivan.
“I was pleased I made it as competitive as I could, he’s far too good a player not to be winning events.
“Some days you win, some days you don’t but you just have to pick yourself up, dust yourself down and get going again.”
