Ronnie O’Sullivan is adamant there is room for improvement despite a thrilling opening round performance in the Northern Ireland Open.

O’Sullivan powered to victory in under 45 minutes as he breezed past Soheil Vahedi 4-0.

O’Sullivan, the world number three, hit breaks of 111, 116 and 108 as he made short work of the Iranian.

He now faces Chinese player Mei Xiwen, as they do battle for a place in the last 16 of the tournament at the Waterfront Hall.

But despite his dominance of the contest, the five-time world champion insists there is much more to come.

“I made a few mistakes – he had his chances he just didn’t take them,” said the 42-year-old. “Once you realise that, you grow a bit in confidence.

“My game’s still not fantastic, it’s alright. I’m scoring alright, my B-game is pretty decent so I’ll keep nicking a few wins when I can.

“There are still areas where you can improve, I missed a few long ones and I know there’s room for improvement.

“I have high expectations and standards and I don’t see why I should compromise that.”
