QPR boss Steve McClaren has issued a rallying cry as his side look to get back to winning ways against west London rivals Brentford this weekend.

Rangers were on a run of five Championship games without loss before narrowly falling 1-0 at Blackburn last weekend thanks to a late Bradley Dack Penalty.

And despite the dispiriting nature of the defeat, McClaren knows from experience that England’s second tier is a cruel division, and that setbacks must be put right quickly.

“This is the Championship and that is what it’s all about,” he said.

“You are going to lose games – and we were disappointed to lose that one late on – and we’re said to the players: ‘OK, let’s get back to work on the training field and give a reaction on Saturday’.

“We want a reaction in terms of performance, and hopefully, from that performance, will come the result.”

The Rs sit 11th heading into the weekend’s action, just two places and as many points clear of Brentford.

Thomas Frank’s side picked up their first win under the Dane’s stewardship last weekend with a 2-0 triumph over fellow Londoners Millwall.

And McClaren is hoping to make use of the derby buzz that propelled the Bees last time out against them when they arrive at Loftus Road on Saturday.

“I call these derby games a group effort,” he continued.

“We need the players and the fans to be at it, and it starts with the players – they need to be aggressive from the start and get the crowd going to create a great atmosphere.

“We want to get back to winning ways and to do that they will have to do their jobs individually.

“We need a reaction and we want them to show a willingness in their approach.

“We will need the supporters right with us. In the last few home games, they have been fantastic for us, driving us forward and sticking by us during tough times in those games. That’s what we will need on Saturday.”
