QPR boss Steve McClaren insists that his players will be facing one of their biggest tests of the season against Blackburn Rovers this weekend.

The R’s will look to build on an encouraging spell of form that has seen them win each of their last three fixtures when they travel to Ewood Park on Saturday.

However, their opponents Blackburn Rovers, who were promoted from League One last season, have themselves enjoyed an impressive start to the campaign and find themselves just two places and one point behind the Londoners.

And while QPR, who currently sit in 10th, are one of the in-form sides in the league, McClaren has warned his players against complacency ahead of facing a strong Blackburn side away from home.

The 57-year-old told the club website: “I have to say I think this game at Blackburn will be one of our toughest of the season.

“They have kept the team together and enjoyed a good start. They play in an interesting way which is hard to play against.

“I saw their game against Leeds when they won and they were very good. I saw them against Derby and they deserved something there.

“They are a tough team to play against, they are very organised, and I can see a bit of us in what they are trying to do.”

McClaren is pleased with the form that has seen his team pick up 20 points from their last 10 Championship matches but urges his players to recognise the importance of keeping up momentum in such a competitive division.

He continued: “There are different spells within a Championship where you do get it together and gather momentum. It’s never clear how long that will last, you have to try and ride the wave as long as possible knowing that you are going to fall off.

“How you react when you fall off is vital but most importantly for us, it’s trying to ride the wave and keep riding it. That’s what we are trying to achieve, and we have to keep going as long as possible.”

The QPR boss also confirmed that a late decision will be made on whether midfielder Geoff Cameron travels with the squad to Blackburn following a knock he picked up last week, whilst Darnell Furlong is expected to feature after playing 90 minutes for the Under-23s in their 6-2 victory against Watford on Monday.
