Adam Blythe has set his sights on another win at Phynova Six Day London after he came up just short despite a heroic effort in the 40-lap derny on Thursday evening.

The 29-year-old from Sheffield, who claimed his first Six Day win in the derny on the opening night, was enthused with his most recent performance despite finishing in fifth behind the likes of Leigh Howard and Wim Stroetinga.

Blythe took the fight to the rest of field, streaking well clear early on, but was gradually reined in by the pack.

He said: “The derny was intense. I tried see how hard I could go from the start, but I got unlucky that one of the guys caught me.

“I gave it my all, but unfortunately I couldn’t claim another win in the race. It is a tough event and I am still pleased with my performance.”

Blythe, much like his partner Dibben, is starting to get back into the swing of track racing after a long period away from the boards.

“Jon and I are starting to get back into racing on the track now,” he said.

“It’s really not easy coming off the road and starting to train for track again, but we’re feeling less tired and we’re starting to get back into our groove now.

“The most important thing is that we are enjoying it. Six Day is a fantastic event and after all, it’s there to be enjoyed by everyone involved.

“The crowd play a massive role when we’re racing. It’s amazing when they get behind us British racers. Hearing the cheers really gives you the encouragement you need at the end of a long race.

“I’ve already got one victory in the bag, but I would love to win another derny race this week.

“But I mainly just want to enjoy this brilliant event and make sure the crowd get to see a great show.”
