New Queens Park Rangers boss Steve McClaren believes he has put together a solid backroom team to build a successful season for the Hoops.

Chris Ramsey is continuing in his role working with both the academy and the first team, while John Eustace and Matt Gardiner have been brought in as part of the shake-up behind the scenes.

McClaren arrived at Loftus Road last month, taking over from the outgoing Ian Holloway. He has confirmed that there will be no new additions to his backroom team as he looks towards the pre-season.

QPR finished last season in 16th, comfortably clear of the drop zone after having flirted with the bottom three earlier in the campaign.

But McClaren is confident he has amassed the right people in the right places to avoid any threat of relegation this time around.

“I am delighted with my backroom team,” former England, Middlesbrough and Derby boss McClaren said.

“You are always looking for people to complement what you bring, as well as cover your weaknesses.

“I was looking for an on-field coach which John Eustace is, and an off-field coach to help with the organisational side, which is where Matt Gardiner’s expertise lies.

“Chris Ramsey will also be helping me. He is the head of coaching and has done a great job with the academy.

“Towards the end of last season he worked with the first team and I want him to continue operating between the academy and first-team level.”
