IAN Holloway wants QPR to consolidate their great start to 2018 with a win over Middlesbrough at Loftus Road this weekend.

His side have beaten Cardiff and Burton so far in the league this year as they head into what should be a tough test against Tony Pulis’ men, who have lost back-to-back home league games since he took over.

However, Boro have beaten Preston away and Sunderland at home in their FA Cup third round tie, and Holloway will know Pulis’ side will be hungry.

He said: “It’ll be a tough ask against a side with a good manager in Tony Pulis.

“He’s just picked up a new team and his methods are proven. His teams are always difficult to break down and score against.

“However, take our FA Cup defeat out of it, we’re on a good run of form – probably our best in the league for quite a while – following three wins, two draws and one defeat over the Christmas and New Year period.”

Holloway believes the renewed sense of optimism in his dressing room is at its highest since his return in November.

“I’ve got to say that the atmosphere among the boys is as good as it’s been since I’ve been back here,” added Holloway.

“Coming into training on Monday morning was a joy - now let’s see if we can make it three in a row!”

Paul Smyth and David Wheeler miss out for Holloway’s side, but Jordan Cousins and Alex Baptiste could return.
