Saracens make three changes to the side who lost to Harlequins last week in the second round of the Anglo-Welsh Cup away to Sale Sharks.

The opening round ended in heartbreak for the north London side as James Lang converted a last-minute Josh Ibuanokpe try to seal a 30-29 win and complete a dramatic comeback for Quins.

Despite the loss, Saracens will take positives into the second round, with 19-year-old No. 8 Ben Earl showcasing his potential with eight carries under his belt.

Sarries’ Anglo-Welsh Cup coach Adam Powell brings in Mark Flanagan to partner Will Skelton at lock, whilst Scott Spurling replaces Christopher Tolofua, who is away on international duty with France.

In the backs, Rotimi Segun lines up with Nick Tompkins in the centre and the dangerous trio of Mike Ellery, Nathan Earle and Matt Gallagher make up the back three.

Sale Sharks clinched victory at Worcester in the first round with seven debutantes in the side and attacking coach Paul Deacon appreciates the challenge ahead.

He said: “Looking at their Anglo-Welsh Cup game against Quins last Sunday and some of their A League games, they play very much like the Sarries front-liners do.

“They are a very well-drilled side, they exit well and we all know what Sarries about so it will be a tough challenge.”
