Brentford’s Yoann Barbet believes his side must focus on prolonging their unbeaten run after defeating Leeds United 3-1.

Barbet’s fine free-kick put Brentford in front after Neal Maupay’s opener had been pegged back by United’s Ezgijan Alioski.

A late Ryan Woods finish secured the home side’s third victory in as many matches and Barbet revealed it was a night to savour for the hosts.

He said: “It was a great night for us to make it three victories out of three. I thought that we played really well during the first half and should have gone in with more than a one-goal advantage.

“They were better during the second half and deserved to score, but we kept going and got the win.”

Dan Bentley allowed Leeds back into the match as his error presented Alioski with the perfect opportunity to equalise.

But the French defender backed his goalkeeper following the mistake.

He said: “It happens. Bents has saved us a lot of times already this year; he made a mistake but we still have the three points - I'm happy we got the win for him.”

The Bees now have a fortnight before they kick another ball where they will travel to high-flyers Cardiff City.

And Barbet has issued a rallying cry to his fellow teammates to continue their fine run of form.

“We have to refresh our minds and then try to extend our unbeaten run for as long as possible,” he said.

“We're in a good way at the moment but we won before the last international break, too. We have a lot of games so it'll be good to have a bit of a rest before the three games next month.

“The atmosphere was brilliant. I hope that they can keep going like this and we can continue to repay them.”
