QPR boss Ian Holloway admitted he was "bitterly disappointed" following his side’s 4-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

The R’s went into the match in confident mood, with wins over league-leaders Wolves and Sheffield United in the previous week.

But Forest were ahead after 13 minutes through Tyler Walker’s neat finish and doubled their advantage just before half-time when Kieran Dowell rounded keeper Alex Smithies to fire home.

Barrie McKay volleyed in the home side’s third and Walker got his second of the afternoon in the 84th minute, leaving Holloway to mull over the defeat.

“I didn’t expect that, I’m bitterly disappointed,” said the R’s manager.

“I thought we started really well and looked like we could cut them open. I felt pretty comfortable.

“But after that, once they scored, we didn’t hold our shape, we didn’t get people in the right places, we didn’t look a threat.

“Forest grew and got better and hammered us in the end - it’s very disappointing.”

Despite the defeat, Holloway pointed to areas in which QPR can improve and is satisfied with his side’s overall form.

“Half my team are off on international duty and I’ll have to wait for them to get back,” Holloway added.

“What we’ve got to do is find the bits that were wrong with that, show the players and keep encouraging them and get back to what we’ve been doing because in the last five games, apart from this one, we’ve done very well - we got eight points out of 12.

“We’ve had an off day but overall we’ve had a very good month.”
