Ian Holloway insists he will be ‘bursting with pride’ when he walks out at Loftus Road tonight as he prepares to celebrate a special milestone.

The Hoops boss is preparing for his 300th game in charge of the R’s, although there is currently no harder task in the league than facing Sheffield United.

The Blades are top of the table and arrive in west London on a three-match winning streak, desperate to ruin Holloway’s parade.

But it seems nothing can ruin the 54-year-old’s day as he continues to lead the club 16 years after he first walked through the door.

“I was proud to be manager of this club for just one game, so I’m bursting with pride to reach this point,” he said.

“This is also the best club I ever played for at the highest level I ever played at in the Premier League.

“All I want to do is help the club.”

Holloway enjoyed a five-year stint at Loftus Road between 2001-06 before he left to join Plymouth Argyle.

However, he returned last year and has steered the club to 14th in the table prior to kick-off – Rangers arrive full of confidence after Saturday’s 2-1 win against high-flying Wolverhampton Wanderers.

“I have been saying for a while that the boys deserved a reward for their recent performances and they haven’t been getting it, but they got it on Saturday with the three points,” he added.

“It could have gone either way but I felt that performance says everything about this group at the moment. They really do have a belief in themselves.

“They kept going. They had to withstand some good play from Wolves and they did that and overcame it. In the end, I felt we deserved to come away with that result.”
