QPR’s winless streak stretched to seven games on Saturday but defender Joel Lynch insists there were plenty of positives to take from their 1-1 draw with Bolton.

Darren Pratley put the Championship’s bottom side ahead in the first half and Rangers had to wait until the 78th minute to salvage something from the game as Idrissa Sylla flicked in.

That leaves the Hoops 17th in the table, six points off the play-offs and just five clear of the relegation zone.

Yet 30-year-old Lynch is remaining positive and believes the result does not match the performance.

“I thought we were the better team overall,” he said.

“Yes, in the first half we were poor and didn’t really get going. We conceded from a set-play, which is what Bolton specialise in. So that was disappointing.

“But it’s still an away point and we’ll go again. Again, we haven’t been beaten. Now we’ll look forward to the next game.

“Everyone’s still upbeat. It was a positive finish to the game – and we know things are different to last season, when we probably would have lost.

“We had enough chances in the second half to go and win it. We changed our plan [when Conor Washington was introduced just before half-time] and did well. We should have won.”

Things could hardly be tougher for QPR this weekend, with table-toppers Wolves due to visit Loftus Road.

But Lynch, buoyed by recent performances, senses an upset could be on the cards.

“Every game’s tough – and Wolves will certainly be no exception,” Lynch added.

“But if we play the way we want to play and are confident, I don’t think there are many teams who we should be scared of.

“We’ve just got to carry on doing what we do best and not let this winless run get us down. Let’s be positive about getting points and continue to build.

“We’re a work-in progress as a club but, as I said, there’s a feeling in the dressing room that the wins are not far away.”

“I think we can definitely go on a run. I think we’re really close.”
