Stars of the England Sevens team swapped the rugby pitch for the tennis court this weekend as they found alternate ways of keeping fit.

England Sevens players, Phil Burgess, Alex Davis and Dan Norton showed that rugby isn’t their only sporting talent as they proved handy with a tennis racket.

They undertook a series of challenges at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton, the home of British Tennis.

Having found out what it was like to receive a shot coming at them at 100mph, the players then tested the speed of their own serve to see how they matched up compared to the professionals.

With thousands of free and pay and play tennis courts available up and down the country, the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) is encouraging people to pick up a racket and Go Hit It this summer.

For those that play typically winter sports, such as rugby, hockey, netball or football, tennis is the perfect way to maintain fitness outside of the core season.

LTA initiatives such as Advantage and Tennis Tuesdays are a great place to improve ability and skills whilst competing in casual match play with others of a similar ability.

Or if you’re looking for a fun alternative to your normal gym class, Cardio Tennis is a group fitness class set on a tennis court and open to people of all ages and abilities.
