Kyle Sinckler fully deserves his England call-up and is an all-round Aviva Premiership Rugby player according to his Harlequins teammate Karl Dickson.

The Quins scrum-half was full of praise for the 23-year-old prop who travelled with the England squad to Australia in the summer as third-choice tighthead but didn’t make an appearance.

This time though England head coach Eddie Jones has only selected two tighthead props meaning Sinckler is almost certain to make his debut during the Autumn.

And Dickson has been quick to point out that Sinckler offers a lot more than just a very solid scrum, and is equally optimistic about Marland Yarde’s chances as he covers for the injured Anthony Watson.

“Kyle has been superb, he brings a lot of physicality and he works hard,” he said.

“I think he will go very well for England. You saw it against Northampton Saints, he fully deserved man of the match for his work around the pitch, making metres and being great in the scrum.

“Any chance you get to train in front of the coaches is an opportunity to put your hand up for the Test series.

“It’s a good opportunity for him (Yarde) to get there and show what he can do. He’s worked really hard this year hopefully he will get the rewards for his hard work.

“Marland works hard in training and he’s always trying to better himself obviously that’s what you have got to do to be at the top of your game.”

Harlequins had mixed results in Europe over the past two weekends but have looked dangerous in attack with seven tries against Stade Francais and five against Edinburgh.

But conceding nine tries in the process was cause for concern for Dickson who said the squad are looking for a big defensive display against Worcester Warriors this weekend.

“We want to score as many points as we can, the problem is we are scoring a lot but conceding a lot as well,” Dickson added.

“We don’t want to have to score 30 points every game to win, we are looking for a good defensive performance.

“We are looking forward to being at home, Worcester are a tough team but we have prepared this week like any other week. They will be physical so we need to be on our game on Saturday.”
