EALING'S Nekoda Davis crashed out of the -57kg women's judo competition after losing out on a quarter-final place to France's Automne Pavia in the final 16 this afternoon.

With a strong start by both competitors, Pavia soon started to dominate the bout managing to bring down Davis twice.

The 23-year-old showed good defence, refusing to allow Pavia to gain any advantage.

Pavia, who won bronze at London 2012, managed to secure a vital one point lead halfway though.

As the bout progressed Davis' chances of winning began to slip away, with her only hope resting on a fourth penalty for Pavia, which would result in disqualification.

Despite showing great spirit and determination, Davis was unable to replicate her opponent's actions to score any points.

Rio 2016 was Davis' first Olympic campaign after volunteering at London 2012, where she would sneak off to catch the judo action.
