If Malgorzata Wojtyra was facing the decision to ride on just one track the rest of her cycling career, you get the impression the Lee Valley VeloPark velodrome would figure high up the list.

Eleventh in the women’s omnium at London 2012, the Polish track cyclist has familiarised herself with the track over the last 12 months to devastating fashion.

First came her Six Day London women’s triumph last October as the competition returned to English shores for the first time in 35 years.

And then last month she followed that up with a thrilling silver medal in the women’s individual pursuit at the World Track Cycling Championships at the same venue.

It was a result the 26-year-old puts down as the best of her career although there is one constant throughout all three competition outings which Wojtyra knows is unrivalled.

“The fans are really one of the best in the world,” she explained. “They do a great job and make racing even more enjoyable.

“I was very pleased to get a silver medal at the World Championships.

“I didn’t expect the medal ride. I knew I was well prepared and I was hoping for a new PB so doing a PB and getting a silver is my best result in my career so far. I’m very happy about that.

“It was really great to be back in London. I like this track and the atmosphere while racing and the crowd is always amazing.

“The fans are really one of the best in the world. They do a great job and make racing even more enjoyable.”

Given her success on the famous London boards, it comes as little surprise that Wojtyra wants to return as soon as possible.

And that could well come at this year’s Six Day London if she gets her way.

“I enjoyed Six Day London very much. The atmosphere was great, there was great organisation and the best riders around. I hope to be back next year,” she added.

“I think Six Day London is one of the best six day events. I also like a lot Six Day Berlin. I hope to race at Six Day London in 2016.

“I hope I can do my best and try to finish the Six Day on the podium.”

Six Day London takes place between 25-30 October 2016 at Lee Valley VeloPark on Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Half term fun, with or without the kids. Tickets on sale now at www.sixday.com
