Scott Hogan and Alan McCormack remain sidelined, but the game comes too soon for Lewis Macleod and Alan Judge. Boss Mark Warburton could opt for an unchanged XI, but new loan signing Chris Long is pushing for a first start since joining from Everton.

Brentford will be keen for revenge after suffering their heaviest defeat of the season at Boro, 4-0, in the reverse fixture in September.

Middlesbrough, in third place, have won the last four meetings in all competitions between the sides, including the last two at Griffin Park.

Brentford have signed Everton striker Chris Long on a month’s loan.

The 19-year-old made his Toffees first-team debut in the Europa League earlier this campaign and will provide Mark Warburton with options up front.

The Bees’ Development Squad beat Crystal Palace 3-0 on Tuesday in an Under-21 League Two South encounter.

Striker Keshi Anderson came off the substitute’s bench to score a hat trick.

A professional contract is up for grabs when Brentford hosts open trials later this year.
