BRENTFORD welcome fellow promotion-chasers Blackburn Rovers to Griffin Park tomorrow keen to respond in positive fashion following last weekend’s defeat at Huddersfield.

The Bees, in fifth place, lost 2-1 in Yorkshire, bringing to an end a five-match win streak, their best run in the second tier of English football since the 1934-35 season.

Blackburn, in seventh, travel to West London just a point outside the play-offs and three behind the Bees but suffered a surprising home defeat to Sheffield Wednesday last time out.

This will be the first competitive meeting between the sides since September 1996, when Blackburn won 2-0 in the League Cup.

Brentford midfielder Toumani Diagouraga has signed a two-year contract extension at Griffin Park.

The French midfielder, 27, has been in impressive form this season and the club has moved to extend his deal, which was due to expire at the end of the season.

The Bees were drawn at home for the third round of the FA Cup and will face Brighton and Hove Albion in an all-Championship clash. Third-round ties will take place between January 3 and January 6.

Boss Mark Warburton has indicated the club could make new additions in the January transfer window.

A striker might be top of the list, to help take some of the burden off the shoulders of Andre Gray.

Watford defender Tommie Hoban is also strongly linked, with a loan move mooted for the 20-year-old.

The Bees squandered a two-goal advantage to crash out of the FA Youth Cup third round against Hull City.

Goals from James Ferry and Courtney Senior put Brentford 2-0 up with 17 minutes to play, but the Tigers hit back through Will Annan and Nik Tzanev to force extra-time before a brilliant Annan free-kick sealed the comeback.
