One fight stands between Nicola Adams and British women's boxing history after she secured a shot at Olympic gold with a semi-final victory over Mary Kom this lunchtime.
The 29-year-old, who fights out of Haringey Community Police Club, was already guaranteed a bronze medal in the flyweight division but will now fight in the final tomorrow afternoon after beating the multiple world champion 11-6 on points.
Adams was in command from the outset, taking the first round 3-1, and by the end of the second that advantage had stretched to 5-2.
Despite Kom's efforts, the lead was extended further to 8-4 by the end of the third round and Adams duly completed the task to secure victory by a five-point margin.
Adams, who has three consecutive world silver medals to her name, became the first British woman to claim a major boxing title last year when she claimed the European crown.
