A NURSE from Chester couldn’t bring herself to cook these romantically-shaped carrots – and so kept them as a Valentine’s Day ornament.

Amie Wild, 41, was busy preparing Sunday lunch for her mum Patricia and 15-year-old son Teddy when she spotted the root vegetables, which resemble two intertwined (and orange) lovers.

She told The Standard: “I was chopping up the carrots when I came across them and thought ‘that’s appropriate for this time of year!’

Amie Wild has kept her 'kissing carrots'

“I couldn’t bring myself to cook them so I put them to one side. I’ll probably just keep them on the side as an ornament for this week. My son thought it was pretty hilarious!”

She has now named the conjoined root vegetables Jack and Vera, after the famous Coronation Street couple.

Amie, who lives on Hermitage Road, Saughall, said her Valentine’s Day plans were sadly limited to a work shift at the Countess of Chester Hospital.

“This is about as romantic as it gets for me!” she joked.

The 'kissing carrots' were included in a bag from Tesco.
