SHOCKING dashcam footage shows a Kilgetty landlord’s lucky escape when he came face-to-face with a lorry travelling towards him on the wrong side of the road.

Peter Adams, landlord of the Begelly Arms, was driving along the A477 from Pembroke Dock in the pitch dark at 10.30pm last night, December 4, when he was dazzled by oncoming lights.

“I’d been to a meeting in Pembroke Dock, and was travelling home about 10.30, and met this truck in the middle of the road, just by Bangeston Hall.

“It was pitch black and pouring down with rain, with water all over the road.”

At that point, Peter, 61, was met with dazzling lights, which he initially thought were just overly-bright.

He was shocked to discover at the last minute it was an oncoming lorry.

Peter, who has been driving since he was 17, relied on his experience, pulling sharply off the road, clipping a roadside sign.

“It took me aback a bit,” said Peter. “It did put the wind up me a bit; all you’ve got is headlights in front of you, at the last minute I realised it was on my side of the road, I thought it was just bright headlights at first.”

Despite his shocking experience, Peter bears no malice to the, as yet, unknown driver.

A Dyfed-Powys Police spokesman said: "Dyfed-Powys Police received a report of a lorry driving dangerously on the A477, near Bangeston Hall, shortly after 9am today (December 5), which caused a car to drive in to a grass verge. The incident is alleged to have happened at around 10.25pm on December 4."
