A man has been taken to hospital for treatment to burns after a fire on farm near Aberdeen.

Police closed the B997 road between Parkhill and Bridge of Don to help firefighters tackle the blaze at Birkhill Farm in Dyce.

The storage building which caught fire has been destroyed and a farm worker has been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment to minor burns.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service was alerted at 10.36am on Sunday March 18 to reports of a fire at a farm in Dyce, near Aberdeen.

“Operations control mobilised a number of resources to the scene, where crews currently remain in attendance.

“One casualty was passed into the care of Scottish Ambulance Service personnel and is being transported to hospital.

“Crews will remain at the scene until the area is made safe.”

The fire was extinguished by 1.15pm.
