POLICE have shut down a large "cannabis factory" in Southall. More than 600 plants were discovered in the residential address as well as two black bags full of the drug.

Officers were called to the house following a tip-off by a member of the public on Monday, November 7.

Around 200 plants were found in a downstairs room, with a further 400 potted cannabis plants discovered in two of the upstairs bedrooms.

Each room in the premises was fitted with silver reflective material, heating equipment, UV lighting, transformers and timers. The house was also fitted out with a sophisticated ventilation system.

Police estimate the "factory" cost between £5,000 and £10,000 to set up.

They are now attempting to track down three men thought to be renting the property.

One man has been arrested pending further enquiries.
