| Ready to campaign: The Lib Dems get going |
PROSPECTIVE MPs standing in next month’s general election took to the streets to rally support and votes this week.
The three candidates for the Liberal Democrats were unveiled during a special launch evening last Thursday at the Christ the Saviour Church hall, New Broadway, Ealing.
Francesco Fruzza, parliamentary candidate for Ealing North, believes his party will do well at the May 5 elections.
He said: “We are three local people who work together. As a group we work very closely and that’s the aim of this campaign – to show that we are together.”
Cllr Gary Malcolm, the Lib Dems candidate for the Ealing, Acton and Shepherds Bush seat, Nigel Bakhai, the Lib Dems Ealing and Southall candidate and Mr Fruzza have all been manning public information stalls across the borough about their local and national policies and will continue to do so leading up to the elections.
Meanwhile, the three Conservative candidates were also out in force outside Ealing Broadway station on Tuesday evening handing out leaflets about their local and national manifestos to members of the public returning home from work.
Roger Curtis, the Ealing North candidate, Jonathan Gough, the Ealing, Acton and Shepherds Bush candidate and Mark Nicholson, the Ealing and Southall candidate, chatted with members of the public and urged people to vote on May 5.
All the borough’s seats are currently held by the Labour party but the three candidates know there is no room for complacency as they started their election campaign on Tuesday.
Stephen Pound, Ealing North MP, Piara Khabra, Ealing and Southall MP and Andy Slaughter, the candidate for the Ealing, Acton and Shepherds Bush seat, which was previously held by Clive Soley, went on a whistle-stop tour of as many of the borough’s Tube stations on Tuesday evening to rally support for their campaign.
