A CARTOON doodle has won a school a brand new computer after beating more than 600 schools in a national competition.

North Ealing School, in Pitshanger Lane, Ealing, won a Hewlett Packard Tablet PC in a National Doodle Day competition which was held in aid of the Epilepsy Action and The Neurofibromatosis Association charities.

Anna Laidlaw, who organised the event at North Ealing, told the Times: "The children were delighted to win the competition. They greatly enjoyed creating the doodles while raising funds for a very good cause."

A doodle by Nima Ahmadi, a Year Five pupil, has been chosen to represent the school, which will appear on the framed certificate signed by Doodle Day patron Terry Wogan.

Nima said: "I was very surprised to win. I like drawing and making pictures. I got the idea for the doodle from something I saw in a book."

Roberta Tweedy, chief executive of the Neurofibromatosis Association, thought a doodle competition was ideal for children of all ages to enter.

She said: "The beauty of doodling is that it can be done by people of all ages and makes us smile.

"Our aim was to raise money and awareness through a fun event."
