A WITNESS has described the "horrific" scenes following a stabbing in West Ealing last week.

Passengers on the E9 bus as it pulled up at a stop in Gurnell Grove on Thursday saw a woman staggering in the street covered in blood.

A 41-year-old woman who was on the bus told the Ealing Times what she saw as the vehicle was at the stop at around 2.30pm.

She said: "I saw this woman running out of an estate, which is off Gurnell Grove. She was struggling to walk and there was someone with her keeping her up, maybe her friend or mum.

"She was trying to flag down cars in the street, they just drove by although it was clear that the girl was losing lots of blood and then she collapsed on to the pavement."

"The bus driver turned off the engine and ran out to help.

"Lots of people surrounded them and I was getting quite worried about her.

"One of her arms was covered in blood from her palm to her shoulder. It looked really horrific."

The woman stabbed was believed to be around 40 years-old. An air ambulance was called at she was taken to St Mary's Hospital suffering from stab wounds.

Her injuries were not life-threatening and she was discharged from hospital on Tuesday.

Ealing Police were hunting a man in connection with the stabbing and on Sunday a man was arrested in Dover as he tried to board a ferry.

Errol Alexander, 47, was charged with attempted murder and appeared before Ealing Magistrates' Court on Tuesday. He was charged with attempted murder, threats to kill, possession of an offensive weapon, and common assault.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on October 21.
