A MAJOR reshuffle of Ealing Council's cabinet has been announced.

The reshuffle of the council's decision making arm, sees two new councillors bought into power and four of the existing poirtfolio holders taking up new positions.

Councillor Nigel Sumner, has been stripped of his health and community wellbeing title, while Councillor Ian Green has stepped down from the cabinet and will be the next mayor.

Councillor Jason Stacey, the council's leader, said: "I have had a change around of the portfolios to reflect a change in circumstances. For example, with the housing issue there is a lot of work to do in bringing Ealing Homes into line, and with Cllr Green due to become the next mayor, it seemed like a good time to do this.

"Two years into the administration it's good to test out some new faces. I only have seven spaces to fill and 43 councillors in the party it is inevitable there will be a change around from time to time."

One new face in the cabinet is Councillor Phil Taylor (Con, Northfields), who has been handed the task of looking after customer and community services, which include parking, the new heritage quarter and sports centre development.

He is joined in the cabinet by Councillor Mark Reen (Con, Northfield), who will be in charge of adult services and health.
