SANDWICH maker Subway has been fined £600 for selling food out of hours in Ealing. It follows a complaint from a neighbour.
Vishal Kakar, director of London Fast Food Developments Ltd, appeared at Ealing Magistrates’ Court on January 27 and pleaded guilty to two offences of selling hot food and drinks after the permitted hours at his High Street outlet.
As well as the fine, he was ordered him to pay £500 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
Councillor Ranjit Dheer, cabinet member for community services and safety, said: “We cannot allow individual businesses to make up their own opening and closing times. Every late-night fast-food trader is given specific closing times to stick to, which include a time for last orders.
“By staying open beyond that time this business has contributed to anti-social behaviour in the area by providing food and drink to rowdy people who would otherwise have left the area.”
