WORK on the new pavilion at Spikes Bridge Park, Southall, is set to start this summer.
Last year, plans were agreed to transform the park by building a new sports pavilion with changing rooms, improving the football pitches and installing new cricket facilities.
Since then, the parks department has secured £195,000 from the Playsport London Facility Fund and £150,000 from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities Fund, in addition to £100,000 from the London Marathon Charitable Trust, awarded last year.
Ealing Council is already working with two charities, London Tigers, an Asian football project, and local group Southall Community Alliance, to deliver the sports project and activities once the transformation is complete.
