IN a bid to reduce water use and save money, Ealing Council has joined forces with energy-saving company ADSM.

Engineers from ADSM will visit several council buildings to check for leaks and see whether water meters are working properly.

Water-saving measures, such as taps which turn off automatically, devices to reduce the amount of water used when flushing toilets and re-using rain water could be introduced where needed.

The agreement will be funded through a private equity scheme which helps organisations save water. Ealing could be awarded up to £400,000, depending on water-saving measures needed.

The council will also be indirectly helping to improve sanitation and access to fresh water in developing countries with a donation of the money saved going to the charity, WaterAid.
