AN Ealing hairdresser that flouted the law and repeatedly flytipped has been heavily fined.
Pekka Ikomi, one of the owners of Diligence, 111 The Broadway, West Ealing, appeared before Ealing Magistrates on Thursday, 12 August 2010.
He pleaded guilty on behalf of the firm to five counts of fly-tipping outside the salon after he was caught on CCTV. He was fined total of £2,500 and ordered to pay the council’s £774 prosecution costs.
It is the second time the salon has fallen foul of the law. The business was also fined last year following a string of fly-tipping incidents in 2008.
Cabinet member for Transport and Environment, Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, said: “Making Ealing cleaner is a top priority so I’m always pleased when we catch the people responsible for blighting the borough by fly-tipping waste. I hope the company will be more diligent in future and stop cutting corners on their waste disposal.”
Mr Ikomi admitted to offences under sections 33 of the Environmental Protection Act (1990).
