Schizophrenic, from Tottenham, to be sentenced over 'doting father' killing

A TOTTENHAM schizophrenic who stabbed a man to death four months after walking free from court over another brutal attack will be sentenced today.

Colin Welsh, 42, now living at a mental health hospital, was fined £200 in March 2008 for beating a fellow student at St Andrews University so badly he needed facial reconstruction surgery.

But he was left free to go on to kill father-of-one Elliot Guy at a party in July 2008, by stabbing him in the neck, the Old Bailey heard yesterday.

Mr Guy's first child, a daughter, had been born just 12 weeks earlier and he had doted on her.

Welsh pleaded guilty to manslaughter on grounds of diminished responsibility.

He will be sentenced this morning.
