A NEW festive landmark has been unveiled in Southall, with a 24-foot Christmas tree taking pride of place at the major Southall Waterside regeneration site.
Organised in partnership with Ealing Council, the tree’s debut was marked with an evening when Featherstone Community Choir and Hambrough Primary School Choir entertained guests with traditional carols.
Standing in view of Southall Station, the tree has been adorned with a kilometre of bright white lights.
Mulled wine and mince pies were provided by West London College and Southall Waterside revealed the winners of a Christmas card design competition in which Blair Peach Primary, Hambrough Primary and Featherstone Primary all took part.

The winning designs will now be sold by the schools and profits will be shared between the schools and Southall Waterside’s designated charity, Help for Southall Street Homeless.
All entries will be on display on the hoarding of the Berkeley Group’s construction site.
A cheque for £10,000 was presented to Help for Southall Street Homeless, celebrating a first donation by the Southall Waterside team to support a full-time case worker.
The tree will be on display until early January.
