visitors will have a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes at London Transport Museum’s Depot in Acton this month and see some of the treasure house of more than 320,000 artefacts, which are not on display at the museum’s main site in Covent Garden.

Design enthusiasts, families and transport buffs will be able to experience London Uncovered, an event celebrating great design, with a closer look at how design details and textiles make the London transport system unique.

From stories about the making of the Tube seating Moquette fabric – familiar to millions of passengers travelling daily on the capital’s public transport system - to tours of the depot’s art and poster collection, visitors can uncover how the creative design process is brought to life.

Highlights include talks, interactive displays, bite-sized tours and family activities, rides on a miniature railway, vintage and police vehicles.

Visitors will be able to enjoy climbing aboard restored buses and Tube carriages, as well as craft workshops, browsing for transport-inspired gifts and enjoying street food and drinks from vintage vehicles and the Routemaster Bus bar.

You can even hop on for a heritage bus ride around Acton.
