Girls from St Helen’s School in Northwood have celebrated outstanding success in their GCSE and IGCSE examinations, to continue the school’s excellent academic record.

Over half of all grades awarded in unreformed subjects were A*s, while 85% were A*s or As. Almost half the year group were awarded exclusively A* and A grades, while eleven girls achieved A*s in all their subjects to comfortably exceed last year’s total.

The school also reaffirmed its flair for languages, where 82% of grades were A* and A, while all grades awarded in Classical Greek were A* across the board.

Praising the fine efforts of her pupils, headmistress Dr Mary Short said: “St Helen’s prides itself on being a school where girls are encouraged to choose subjects which inspire and challenge them and where exceptional teaching enables students to develop an enthusiastic and inquisitive approach to their learning.

“This environment enables girls to achieve academic excellence in a very broad range of academic disciplines.”

There was also huge success for St Augustine’s Priory, as the Catholic independent day school in Ealing saw 82% of results being A*-B equivalent.

Pupils at the all-girls school showed their mastery in a wide range of subjects, which included a clean sweep of A*’s in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, as well as 100% passes in English Literature and Mathematics and 83% of Modern Language grades at A* or A.
