Making a mother and baby’s first months as bonding an experience as possible and boosting the confidence of new mums is the aim of NCT Baby Massage classes in Ealing.

The classes, taught by NCT teachers who have undergone extra training in baby massage skills, teach a sequence of baby massage strokes that you can use at home or out and about, to suit you and your baby.

Before babies are able to speak, or even respond to sounds and sights, they actually communicate with the world around them through touch.

Benefits include improved bonding and attachment, building confidence in handling your baby using positive touch techniques, enabling better communication between you and your baby and improving your baby’s sleep.

The courses, taking place in Ealing, Uxbridge and Pinner in September run over four sessions with each lasting 75 minutes. Both morning and evening sessions are available.

The courses are available to mums in Ealing, Hillingdon, Harrow and the surrounding areas. Classes start in September.

“I have been an NCT Antenatal Practitioner for almost 10 years. I thoroughly enjoy engaging with couples during their pregnancy,” said Sarah Miller.

“Last year I decided I wanted to support parents throughout the early months with their new baby.

“Therefore, earlier in the year I undertook two comprehensive baby massage training courses, one with NCT College and one with Peter Walker, International Developmental Baby Massage Teacher. I am now a fully qualified practitioner and really enjoying teaching these sessions.

“As an antenatal practitioner, we explore what life might be like in the womb and how we can use this knowledge to help babies and new parents to make a gentler transition in the early weeks.

“Baby massage is a wonderful way to achieve this. Babies like the feeling of deep pressure touch, it is a very familiar feeling from life in the womb, this feeling can be very calming for them.”
