Gone are the days when only restaurant food and taxis could be ordered through a click of a button.

ZoomDoc, a new doctor on-demand service has launched in London, allows users to instantly book a GP to arrive at their preferred location within the hour.

The service comes in response to the growing NHS GP shortage, with patients having to wait for weeks before they can be seen by their local doctor.

ZoomDoc was founded by GP Dr. Kenny Livingstone and healthcare entrepreneur Paul Landau, with the aim to create a quicker, more accessible and higher standard GP service.

Dr Livingstone said: “It’s no secret that healthcare in the UK is in need of innovative ways to improve the quality of care delivered.

“At the moment, any wait for a GP’s attention is not good enough, so we have designed ZoomDoc to offer affordable and quick home GP visits.

“Patients should have choices, and ZoomDoc leverages the latest technology to deliver the GP to their door – because people have less time to wait for quality care.

”The feedback from both our patients and our doctors across London has been over and above expectations and we’re excited to start rolling out the service across the rest of the nation over the coming months.”

It allows patients to take control of their health concerns and to ensure the correct care is provided at the right time.

Through a smartphone app, the 24/7 ZoomDoc service allows patients to request a GP to arrive at any given location.

A registered GP then calls back within one minute for a pre-visit consultation, and if required or requested, fulfills a GP visit within 60 minutes.

ZoomDoc had both busy people who are unable to take time off work to visit their doctor, and parents who need GP access beyond the traditional surgery hours in mind when designing the service.

Now the GP comes to them, allowing both flexibility and convenience for the patient.

The interface on the downloadable app includes a map, showing where GPs are based in the patient’s vicinity.

The patient can then select an address, and they are given an expected arrival time, alongside an appointment fee.

Appointments start at £99 for a 25-minute consultation.

The company is registered with the Care Quality Commission, the medical profession’s independent regulator, and uses active NHS and private GPs, all UK trained and registered with the General Medical Council.

Once ordered, the user is given a profile and photo of the doctor they will be receiving treatment from, alongside a rating and a review system.

Following the appointment, users are encouraged to leave a star rating and review.
