Howden's Joinery in Uxbridge have recently donated a brand new kitchen area to Michael Sobell Hospice in Northwood following a request for help on Facebook from the charity.

Warren Davies, from Howdens Joinery, said: “I first heard about the project on social media via a friend.

“I immediately made contact with the hospice and arranged for a kitchen to be provided by Howdens Uxbridge.

“I then got in touch with a local builder friend of mine, who offered to give up his time to fit it for free.

“I have been aware of the great work that is done at Michael Sobell Hospice for some time now and really wanted to support them with this project.

“It gives me a good feeling knowing that the kitchen is being put to good use.”

Mary Niven, who has been volunteering at the hospice for over 34 years, is one of a team of four volunteers who regularly waters the plants and checks and arranges all the flowers on the in-patient unit.

She said: “The new kitchen area is fresh and lovely, it really brightens up the family area.

“The storage is wonderful and we are busy filling up all the new cupboards and drawers.

“It was such a generous thing for Howden’s to do for the charity.”
