The first named retailer for the Dickens Yard development in Ealing centre has been announced.

The British retailer Jigsaw will open on the new shopping site linking the open squares at the mixed-use development.

The new store will open its doors from autumn 2018.

On the Ealing opening, Peter Ruis, chief executive of Jigsaw said: “The modern trend is for customers to spend more time in their local area.

“Ealing is full of Jigsaw customers who are time poor and where they would usually travel to Chiswick, Richmond or into Central London, they now want to shop more locally, so we thought we would bring the brand to them.”

Mr Ruis believes the opening of Jigsaw will bring a success connection to the local community.

Councillor Seema Kumar of Ealing Broadway said: “The premises are filling up and Ealing is starting to change.

“Ealing is buzzing and beginning to take shape.

“Jigsaw is a good retail name and it will encourage others to come and shop in Ealing.

“A big retailer is better for long-term prospects in Ealing as opposed to pop-up shops.”

Craig Carson, managing director of St George West London, the developers behind Dickens Yard said: “St George is delighted that Jigsaw is the first retailer to sign-up at Dickens Yard.

“Dickens Yard will be an exciting mix of new homes, shops, restaurants and leisure offers which will bring a new energy to the town centre.”

Other retailers, restaurants and leisure operators are expected to follow suit and will also be opening at Dickens Yard.

Dickens Yard opened in February 2011 and was left empty for several years.

Upon completion in 2019, Dickens Yard will have 104,000 sq ft of retail space and a new landscaped public square.
