The Ealing British Heart Foundation (BHF) Furniture Store will play host to a creative collaboration of scientists and designers this month, inviting Ealing residents to learn more about the amazing research funded by the BHF.

On Thursday, November 24, from 1:30pm until 4:30pm, visitors of all ages can discover how their donations and support to the BHF store is transformed into life saving research.

From demos and experiments to building blood vessels out of Lego, events are open to everyone and designed for all ages.

Mira Palmer, British Heart Foundation area manager said: “We’re so excited to welcome scientists into our Ealing Furniture Store and hope that as many people as possible will take the opportunity to pop in and learn more about the amazing research the BHF is funding.

“You don’t need to be a scientist to get involved – visitors just need to come armed with curiosity and an appetite for fun.

“Each year, BHF shops raise around £30 million to help the BHF fight heart disease and it’s only with the support from the local community that we are able to achieve this.

“We hope that this event will enable the local community to get closer to the medical research that they are helping to fund in a fun and inspiring way.”

This ‘Science In Store’ is the second of three to be hosted by the Ealing store.

Designed in partnership with The Curious Act, the Science In Store event will feature scientists from the BHF’s Centre of Research Excellence at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London.

Professor Sara Rankin said: "We are really looking forward to discussing our work with members of the public that fund our research through donations to the BHF. We hope to share the wonder of our cutting edge research and its practical applications.”

The event will run from 1:30pm – 4:30pm on Thursday 24 November and no reservation is required.

Simply pop into the BHF Furniture Electrical Store which is located at 9-13 Broadway, Ealing, London, W13 9DA.
