THREE men have been jailed following a fatal stabbing at an address in Northolt.

Alex Azadbakht, 25, of no fixed address, was found guilty of the murder of 25-year-old Rory Anderson at Woolwich Crown Court on Thursday, October 20.

He was also found guilty of perverting the course of justice.

Azadbakht received 20 years’ imprisonment for murder and four-and-a-half years’ imprisonment for perverting the course of justice. The sentences will run concurrently.

Jermaine Lewis, 21, of Northolt and Stephan Bassily, 20, of Northolt – who both appeared alongside Azadbakht – were found guilty of perverting the course of justice, having intentionally destroyed evidence relating to the victim.

Lewis was sentenced to four years’ imprisonment; Bassily was also sentenced to four years’ imprisonment.

Mr Anderson was stabbed in the back and chest at an address in Hotspur Road in Northolt, on Saturday, 12 March. He died in hospital a few days later on Wednesday, 16 March.

Mr Anderson had gone to the flat in Hotspur Road and a short time later was attacked.

The court heard that Azadbakht stabbed Mr Anderson repeatedly in the back and chest with a weapon similar to an ice pick.

CCTV captured Mr Anderson leaving the premises and collapsing outside. He called 999 but having only been able to ask for help, he left the line open to the police operator.

Azadbakht and Bassily then fled the scene, taking Mr Anderson's mobile phone and clothing, joined shortly after by Lewis.

The murder weapon, Mr Anderson's mobile phone and clothing have never been found.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall, of the Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "Rory Anderson was killed and the three found guilty not only were involved in his death, but sought to conceal evidence immediately after.

"Despite their actions to evade justice they have today been found guilty of the most serious offences."
