AN UPCYCLE fashion show involving models from the Ealing community will next month show off a unique collection while raising money to build a well in West Africa.

Guests at the St Barnabas Church show on Pitshanger Lane, on Saturday October 8, will be treated to fashion through philanthropy by designer Izzy Meimsaab.

She specialises in transforming unwanted second-hand clothing into fresh and sought after outfits and is putting together the Ealing show with friend Lisa Simonds, who is tasked with raising £6,000 - the cost of building a well for the village of Bissunaga.

Ms Simonds, an Operation Wellfound volunteer and a mature student at Brunel University, said: “The show has been created with diversity in mind so models of every age, size and those with special needs will be participating.”

Models will be aged between 16 and 60 and will include Ealing Mencap volunteers, St Barnabas pensioners and students of Redwood College in Greenford.

Willesden boutique Zara Makes is also supplying both clothes and models.

The outfits range from everyday wear to evening wear and some will be available to buy after the show.

Ms Simonds said all proceeds raised would go directly to WellFound’s Build a Well for Bissunaga Appeal, made possible by the Measham Family Christian Foundation.

She said: “WellFound has some truly admirable values. First, the charity aims to empower impoverished African communities to implement and sustain change for themselves, rather than just simply providing handouts.

“Second, the charity has a desire to give freely in line with Christian principles. These were ethoses I felt I could fully support.”

The event will open with comedian Lynne Bradley, author of What’s a Nice Jewish Girl Like You, Doing in a Church Like This.

The show at St Barnabas Church is 6-10pm on October 8 and tickets cost £7, available at www.operationwellfound.org/events
