ELTHORNE Park High School in Hanwell is celebrating its best ever A level and BTEC results with half at grade A or A*.

Just over three quarters (76 per cent) of all grades including BTEC at the Westlea Road school were B or better - a 22 per cent increase on last year.

Jake Trowbridge is among the 87 per cent taking up places at their first choice of university.

He will read aeronautics and astronautics at the University of Southampton after achieving three A* grades in mathematics, further mathematics and in his extended project, as well as an A in physics.

Headteacher Eliot Wong said: "The sixth form is going from strength to strength with 2016 being our best results ever.

“Our fantastic results are testament to the hard work put in by staff and students alike.

“I am absolutely thrilled and wish all of our students great success in the next stage of their education.”

It was a double celebration in the Kamlah household, as twins Mohammed and Rasha, who have been spending the summer working for the shadow defence secretary Clive Lewis, gained a clutch of A Level grades between them.

Mohammed achieved A*s in economics and history and in geography and will study international relations at King’s College.

Rasha will read economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies after achieving A* in history and Bs in economics and mathematics.
