A PASSIONATE CEO will swap Pitshanger for the French Prealps as he climbs a mountain to raise money for disadvantaged Ealing children tomorrow.

Dean Horridge, founder and CEO of Fit For Sport, is set to climb Le Brévent to celebrate the charity’s 25th anniversary and fundraise for The Yellow Ball Foundation on Friday May 20.

At a height of 8,400ft the mountain is twice the size of the UK’s largest mountain Ben Nevis and Mr Horridge aims to climb it in a day.

“We have an opportunity to make healthy lifestyles accessible to all,” he said.

“The charity enables more underprivileged young children and families in Ealing to participate in activity programmes and helps them to gain the essential social and physical skills to build confidence and reach their potential.”

Mr Horridge has already raised more than £1,000 for The Yellow Ball Foundation — a charity that has been providing bursaries to disadvantaged children for healthy active programmes since 2007.

“£5 enables a child to attend one afternoon at an Extended School Club, £20 enables a child to attend a whole day at an Activity Camp, and £50 enables a child to attend a whole week at an Extended School Club,” said Mr Horridge.

“I want to raise as much awareness as I can to ensure all children have the same opportunities.”

The charity CEO has been a Pitshanger resident for more than 20 years. He was a committee member of Pitshanger Community Association, helped start and raise funds for Brentham Youth Club and founded the Pitshanger Fun Run.

Fit For Sport provides financial assistance for underprivileged children to join activity programmes and donated more than £100,000 to support children across the UK last year.

Montpelier Primary in Ealing was the first school the charity worked with.
