STUDENTS from Met Film School in Ealing are appealing to horror film fans to help them raise thousands of pounds through crowdfunding.

Olivia Starr and Mariah Nonnemacher, in their final year of film-making at the school based at Ealing Studios, want to make a spooky film influenced by Victorian photographs, called Memento Mori.

More than £400 has been pledged so far to get it off the ground, but they need to reach a £5,000 goal by the end of October.

They said if they fail to meet the target they risk failing their master’s degrees.

Paloma Lommel, 25, who graduated from Met Film School last year, will be taking on the role of screenwriter after her own master’s degree piece The Schoolboy received awards from a series of independent film festivals.

Ms Nonnemacher, 23, said: “We are basically asking our local communities to help get this film on its feet.

“We are all so passionate about what we do and we are working tirelessly to make this project happen.

“Although we have great people on board, it's hard to make it in an industry as students where money is an obstacle.”

If the women succeed in attracting enough support, they will be able to send the film out to film festivals and kickstart their careers.

Ms Starr, 24, who is directing the film, said: “For you to believe in me enough to help me complete something close to my heart would be a reward that I would be internally grateful for.”

Donations can be made via Kickstarter here.
