HEALTH chiefs responsible for Ealing Urgent Care Centre are being asked to answer questions about the service after a TV documentary brought to light concerns about medical care.

Care UK, the private company that runs the centre at Ealing Hospital, has been asked to attend Ealing Council's next health and adult social services scrutiny panel, following secret filming by ITV’s Exposure programme that was broadcast on July 22.

The panel chair, Councillor Peter Mason, said: “The programme showed some very concerning practices at the urgent care centre.

"It is important that we get to the truth, so residents and patients alike can have confidence in their local healthcare services."

The scrutiny meeting is open to the public and will be held at the town hall on Wednesday September 9 at 7pm.

Ealing Council is not involved in managing the hospital, but does have the power to review and scrutinise the delivery of health services in the area.

The panel will hear from senior managers from Care UK and representatives from Ealing’s Clinical Commissioning Group, the body responsible for the Care UK contract, which has also launched an independent clinical review.

Patients can comment online about their experience of Ealing Urgent Care Centre in a survey run by Healthwatch, the national consumer body for medical care, at www.healthwatchealing.co.uk/news/ealing-hospital-urgent-care-centre
