AN EALING mother-of-two whose business was destroyed in the riots of summer 2011 has been voted in the Top 100 UK Mumpreneurs.

Liz Pilgrim opened her maternity and babywear business, babye, on Ealing Green in 2003, and was heartbroken when it was looted and smashed in the violent Ealing riots.

She shut up shop later that year but continued her business online at www.babye.co.uk She went on to launch a niche trade magazine website www.maternitybuyer.com, which connects maternity brands with maternity retail buyers.

Ambitious Liz is aiming to be the essential directory for the global maternity industry, and the website has been awarded a Gold Award for its design and content by Mumpreneur UK.

She said: "Now that I don’t have a physical shop window, it’s easy to slip under the radar. There are so many great home-based businesses like mine in Ealing.

“I am delighted to receive this award; I love what I do and it’s great receiving this recognition. It really is proof that when you are faced with challenges, you just have to pick yourself back up and try again.”

Liz is also a member of Ealing Mums In Business, a networking and training group run by two other Ealing mums, Shelley Henderson and Erin Thomas-Wong.

They are also included in the Mumpreneur UK Top 100, listed in full at www.mumpreneuruk.com/awards/mumpreneur-100
