A NORTHOLT woman who used to supervise Crown Prosecution Service cases will be doing community service herself after pleading guilty to fraud.

Samantha Bernard, 44, of Perth Close, was today ordered by Guildford Crown Court to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

A statement issued by Metropolitan Police said that when Bernard arranged insurance for a car, she had claimed it belonged to her and that she would be the main driver, both of which were untrue.

Officers said in fact the car had been bought by a man - who has since been jailed - with a £10,000 cash deposit that had come from proceeds of crime.

The man had been arrested in September 2013 when officers stopped him in the car and found him to have a large amount of cash. On searching his home they uncovered heroin and cocaine with a street value of £30,000.

Police said inquiries into the man led officers to Bernard, and she was arrested in January last year. She was also suspended from her role at the Crown Prosecution Service, from which she later resigned.

Today she was also sentenced to three months imprisonment suspended for 12 months, for entering into or becoming concerned in a money laundering arrangement, and two months suspended for 12 months, for fraud by false representation.
